Our History

Perdiswell Farm was brought from the Duke of Marlborough by the Vicar of Woodstock, The Reverend Duncan, at the start of the 19th Century.  We don’t know if it had a farm name then but Reverend Duncan was brought up around Perdiswell in  Worcester and so he took the name from home.

The farm was sold to Donald Price in 1946 who wanted to establish a farming business to supply milk and vegetables to his Restaurant in Oxford and Milk Bars in both Oxford and Cambridge.  Although he had no farming experience his wife, Joyce, had plenty having being brought up on the family farm at Eynsham.  They started a pedigree herd of Jersey cattle by buying cattle from xxxxxxxxxx.  In the late 60’s they were struggling to keep the farm going and so Malcolm Price came back to help run the farm.

With falling milk prices the decision was made in 1972 to sell the cows and concentrate on arable farming.  The farm started to expand in the 1990’s with a neighbour retiring and then opportunities with local landowners to tenant some additional acres.  James started working on the farm following his return from Agricultural College in 1999 and four years later the acreage doubled when land became available from the Blenheim Estate.
